Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, demons, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to begin their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the team reach locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
